What is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)?
Applied Behavior Analysis is the science of understanding behavior by examining the relationship between individuals, their environment, and the function behavior serves. Using principles established through over 58 years of research, ABA teaches new skills and replaces behaviors such as aggression, elopement, property destruction, and self-injury.
Expected Benefits of ABA
Communication skills across settings.
Adaptive skills and flexibility during transitions.
Independence in daily living skills such as toileting and hygiene.
Play skills including cause-and-effect, cooperative, functional, and independent play.
Social skills through improved communication and relationship-building.
Outcomes vary for each client and are strongest when caregivers and clients actively participate in the therapeutic process.
About Autism
Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects communication, social interaction, and behavior. Because autism is a spectrum, characteristics and support needs vary widely from one individual to another.
A diagnosis is made by qualified professionals such as psychologists or developmental pediatricians and may be identified as level 1 (mild), level 2 (moderate), or level 3 (severe). At Behavior Central ABA, services are designed to respect each individual's strengths while addressing areas that impact independence and quality of life.
